This portal is designed for Equanimity Animal Therapy's clients to stay informed on new subjects, exercise recommendations, new business information, friendly reminders, and more!
Please do not use any other therapeutic modality within 72 hours of your Acuscope therapy session. This includes PEMF, Bemer, Back on Track products, magnetic sheets, and any other products designed with therapeutic components.
All horses and dogs must be dry prior to treatment and stay dry for 6 hours after treatment. Water polarizes the treatment and draws the current to the fascia layer, voiding the treatments ability to stay in the deep layer of muscle and tissue. Your horses and dogs can of course drink water but cannot be out in the rain or receive baths for 6 hours post treatment.
Flies annoy me too! But applying fly spray right before a treatment makes it difficult for my tape to stick due to the oils in the fly spray. Once I complete my set up on your horse then I am happy to fly spray them so they are comfortable for the rest for their treatment.
Whether your horse is recovering from an injury or is competing extensively, adding ground poles to your exercise regimen will help strengthen the longissimus dorsi (a large muscle in the back) and the abdominal muscles, along with helping the stifles and hocks with mobility. This simple addition to your exercise routine is proven to increase the limbs' range of motion, strengthen musculature, and improve coordination. A great way to incorporate ground poles to your routine is to have your horses walk over them during your warm up and cool down.
Depending on your horse's needs, your horse is classified within a certain program. The programs are preventative maintenance, general maintenance of chronic conditions or previous injuries, or rehabilitation (partial or full).
Treatment frequency varies based on the horse's needs. There is an ideal, moderate, and minimum frequency of treatments for each program. The absolute minimum frequency of treatment per month is 1 to continue with forward progression. Once a patient reaches 2 months without any treatment, pending that horse's conditions or workload it may be advised to do 2-3 consecutive sessions. After 3-4 months without treatment the patient will be required to start with the 3 consecutive sessions again to remain within Equanimity Animal Therapy's program since the effects of any previous treatments will be completely diminished.
Acuscope & Myopulse Therapy is not a substitute for proper veterinary care. If any injury has occurred or a condition needs to be diagnosed you need to contact your primary veterinarian. For horses that are under the direct care of a veterinarian for rehabilitation or diagnostic purposes veterinary approval will be required in order for your horse to receive treatments from Equanimity Animal Therapy. This does not apply to horses that are seeking Acuscope Therapy for optimizing performance purposes. Please disclose all veterinary procedures with accurate dates. There are certain time restrictions following injections and regenerative procedures.

Meet Peetu who sustained a broken sacrum and ilium. She was advised by her vet to contact a rehabilitation specialist, which is when we came into contact. I met Peetu in July of this year. She had sustained the broken sacrum and ilium earlier in the year. My client had come to obtain Peetu through a rescue type scenario and has worked hard with gaining Peetu’s confidence. She was very wary of treatment for the first few times. But as her program has progressed she now loves her treatment time and approaches my equipment willingly… which before she would not. In saying this, we had to take Peetus treatment schedule very slow as to not overwhelm her until she gained trust in me and my services. In October she had only had 12 treatments since July, which is very minimal for an injury like this. The main goal of my client was to ensure she could have quality of life and be a pasture horse, so we took a conservative approach based on my clients goals and a few other factors we discussed. As you can see Peetu did very well with her minimal course of treatment, imagine if we had the opportunity to be aggressive with our approach and put her in a full rehabilitation program!
Over the course of treatment we witnessed Peetus muscle atrophy start to fill, she began alternating resting her hind legs, which before she would only rest the injured limb, she started to lay down and roll again, she was walking with better range of movement, standing straighter and more square, whereas before her hind legs were always close together and she would sway to one side, which you can see in the second photo, and her demeanor has become much calmer. This is a case that could have been life or death with this type of injury, but Peetu has persevered and now has a great pasture life with the rest of her herd without any restrictions! I still see Peetu to maintain her forward progress and keep the body balanced.
Horses that stay at Equanimity Animal Therapy's residing facility for rehabilitation services are treated at a frequency discussed with the owner. Partial or full rehabilitation services are offered; partial rehabilitation consists of 3-4 treatments per week for a minimum 2 weeks and full rehabilitation is 5-6 treatments per week for 30+ days.
Equanimity Animal Therapy will complete and abide by the rehabilitation protocol provided by the client's primary veterinarian. This includes hand walking, lunging, weighted or under saddle exercise. Horses that are to be ridden need to be safe, if the horse is determined to be unsafe to ride, alternative options for rehabilitation exercise will be discussed.
The horse's stall or turnoutwill be cleaned daily. Horses are generally fed 3 times per day for their mental health while being stalled or on limited activity. There is an option to supply your own hay or have the hay supplied by me. Horses will be administered any medication that is prescribed by the primary DVM, fed any provided supplements and grain, and the horse will have any additional tasks done such as, blanketing, icing, etc.
Equanimity Animal Therapy offers in house rehabilitation services from spring to fall. Unfortunately usually during the winter our stalls are full, but if your horse requires only a box stall for rehabilitation then an exception can be made to house them during the winter. Please call or text to see when stalls or paddocks become available.
