The Electro-Acuscope is an FDA approved microcurrent modality that utilizes a biofeedback system that is specifically calibrated for animal tissue. The Electro-Acuscope attempts to normalize the level of current in nerve cells and creates indirect access to muscles, tendons, ligaments, and boney areas. By utilizing a biofeedback system the Acuscope is able to provide numerical and auditorial readings that identify locations in the body where the tissue is damaged and unhealthy. Through the readings gathered, it can be generally concluded that a certain area (low numbers and low tones) is in a deficit, which would indicate a chronic issue, or a hyperactive state (high numbers and high pitch tones), which would indicate an acute issue. The Acuscope will attempt to normalize the nerve cells using a waveform similar to the body's electrical signals and utilizing the biofeedback system the instrument will only deliver the amount of microcurrent needed to promote healing.

The current produced by the Electro-Acuscope & Myopulse Therapy System is microcurrent. The body's cells naturally generate microcurrent through ATP. Research has found that introducing microcurrent to living tissue has an overwhelming beneficial effect. To explain further, each cell within the body has the capacity to hold a certain amount of electrical charge (like a battery). When the body sustains an injury/trauma, there is a disruption in the electrical capacity of the cells involved, which in turn disrupts the flow of energy. When the flow of energy is disrupted, the cells are not able to function optimally (battery is being depleted), which means that the cells are struggling to repair and reproduce themselves. In order for the body to heal itself the cells must repair and reproduce. When the Electro-Acuscope & Myopulse Therapy System is introduced, the body is able to recognize the current being delivered (microcurrent) and the cells within the body are effectively being "charged," so that the cells can begin to function optimally, and thus promote healing.
No. The Acuscope and Myopulse Therapy System has a computer circuitry program that is designed to scan and monitor the tissue continuously during the treatment. The animal calibrated computer circuity gathers information and then produces the appropriate corrective waveform for that particular horse to bring the body back to a normal, balanced state. This ensures that the horse only receives the amount of microcurrent that their body needs to promote healing. This is a unique aspect of the therapy system because most other modalities are considered a "fixed" output.
Each new horse with Equanimity Animal Therapy begins with 3 consecutive treatments per the manufacturer's operating policy. Without a proper introduction to Acuscope & Myopulse therapy system, research shows that the effects of only 1 initial treatment would last ~24 hours, but the accumulative effect of 3 consecutive initial treatments has long term benefits. This is referred to as the "cumulative effect." As a patient receives more and more treatments the body will begin to hold the "charge" and the tissue will be able to heal itself more productively. After each treatment, the benefits will start to last longer; and in turn, the duration of future treatments will take less time to have the same effective, long term results. After the 3 initial treatments are completed, each horse within a program with Equanimity Animal Therapy is advised to receive treatments at a certain frequency based on their individual needs.
Yes, hauls in are welcomed. Hauls in must be scheduled ahead of time and if applicable, horses can stay on site with me for multiple days to receive treatments.
Yes. Acuscope therapy helps your horse recover faster, which means that the horse will be able to perform optimally without sore muscles or fatigue. Regular Acuscope therapy will reduce the likelihood of overuse injuries due to muscle fatigue and exertion and increase your horse's range of motion.
